Right at the border of Chicago and Niles is where this charming restaurant is. A total breeze to get to and the murals on the walls are very cool. This is a very casual place for everyone, Filipino or not. The menu is easy to understand. I wish they had more selections (maybe a lechon kawali kare kare or Filipino breakfast but I do understand they are just trying to see what works but I would have liked more variety. We had the chicken fried rice and that was decent but I am very curious to try the mango bagoong (shrimp paste) fried rice. The bistek (steak and onions) was different than I am used to but still very good. The lechon kawali was delicious and crispy. The chicken inasal was so flavorful and juicy- would 100% get that every single time I come here. They have live music on Saturdays. Service is as delightful through and through. They have lot parking.

Ordered to go. Sizzling tofu with egg! I always order sizzling pork or chicken, then I discovered the tofu. Not bad and it's worth a try. So delicious!

The place is very unassuming as it is located smack dab in the middle of this massive strip mall. It almost gets lost in the enormity of the strip mall. When you first walk in, you are greeted by the host and the menu. You turn to the left and the dining area exposes itself. It is narrow yet a wholesome dining experience. The food is amazing Filipino cuisine and they really put attention to detail in their offerings. I ordered the chicken egg rolls, combo chicken and pork bbq sticks and a shrimp dish. They were all exceeding my expectations and I couldn't be more happy with my selection. For the chicken egg rolls, it was a minced chicken in a lumpia Shanghai format. If you know of how good Filipino egg rolls are, these are even better since they are made with chicken instead of pork. The bbq chicken was made with the white meat part of the chicken and was sliced off of a hen. The bbq flavor just oozed from the meat. The only knock and why I didn't give it 5 stars was that it was a tad pricier than my expected Filipino meals and there is competition that is similar in taste yet less costly. I would definitely try other dishes from here again

Chicken Ati-Atihan is hidden in plain site. It's located in the strip mall/plaza where the Niles Meijer's used to be (yes, I'm that old). I'm not aware whether it's some sort of family-owned situation or not, but the place is well-worn and comfortable, like it's been operating for a long time. Yes, they do recommend calling in your food ahead. We did not. But it still didn't take too long - just don't gamble on a quick lunch turnaround if you didn't preorder. I noticed (cause eavesdropping and we were waiting) there were a lot of people calling in their orders ahead of time. The pork lumpia was fresh and delicious. The BBQ pork sticks were portioned generously and the prices were right on. They claim to be the best chicken inasal in town. Maybe they're right. I confess I don't know Filipino cuisine so I can may be a bad judge, but I think the atmosphere, the food, and the service were all great and looking forward to trying more next time.

Everything they served us here was so fresh! They do recommend that you call in your order ahead of time. (They're making it that fresh!) But they were able to accommodate us even though we hadn't done that. The food was definitely worth a little extra wait. Great flavors on the chicken and the pork. The pork egg rolls tasted very fresh as well. I also really liked the leche flan for dessert. The decor here is colorful and cozy. It's a smaller restaurant, but we were able to be seated right away. Our server was friendly and helpful, especially when she found out it was our first time here. I would absolutely come here again to try more things on the menu.

I thought the service was really good from Jean, I had made a reservation because they're often busy and she called to confirm my reservation and asked if I wanted to pre-order. Because good food takes time - that's what my dad used to say and I have to agree. I enjoyed the lumpia Shanghai egg rolls and the beef soup exceeded and I mean exceeded my expectations. It's a simple soup, beef broth with veggies and some marrow so when someone gets it right, the dish can transport you back to childhood. The crispy pata (deep fried pork hocks) was gigantic and flavorful and can make you feel some guilt as you break off some crispy skin to dip into the soy/vinegar sauce (that creates a nice balance with the fat). During my second visit, we tried the chicken inasal which is chicken marinated in soy, calamansi (Philippine lime) and lemon grass. I opted for the chicken breast and along with a BBQ pork skewer, that was a lot of protein. I'm also a big fan of eggplant and they have a pretty decent Tortang talong (eggplant battered and fried), this went really well with the banana ketchup and tobasco. Hope to be back soon and these dishes are inspired from my home island. FYI, plenty of strip mall parking and did I mention that it's BYOB?
